Last days in Germany..

At the beginning of the Danube the way leads through endless corn fields and hilly villages. In this heat you really miss the shadow spending trees. I was very happy to meet Helmut on Tuesday in Ulm and had wonderful days with him since. Although 73 years old and blind since the age of 18 it is amazing how many km this man already cycled.  He is a great tandem fan and took initiative to conduct tandem holidays with groups up to 40 people and has 12 tandems on his own. The big difficulty in doing these things is to find sighted pilots. Therefore I can really recommend to be open to the experience of tandem cycling. While being on the way I have many impressions of nature and am enjoying the refreshing baths in the Danube and the nights between the fruit trees with my tent. Due to nice people, friends and nature I only had to spent 6€ on accommodation so far.
Unfortunately the heat was so troublesome, that Helmut decided to catch a train back home from Passau -to recover and look after his garden
Being cycled the first 500 km I reached Passau and am heading on as "cycle taxi" towards Vienna, where I will visit some blind institutions and friends before heading on to Slowakia
